Teaching Methods
The approach to language teaching is communicative, with emphasis placed both on the presentation and practice of target language and on the consolidation and extension of language skills through the use of task-based learning activities. The method of teaching in the more advanced courses such as EAP focuses on helping the student become more self-determined and thus able to learn using strategies that most suitable for him/her.
Assessment Methods
Combinations of Assessment Methodologies such as Practical exercises, Case studies, discussions, Projects, Presentations & Examinations are made use of to assess the students.
Study Environment
All the classrooms are spacious and well equipped with audio Visual Facilities. The computer labs are equipped with high speed and powerful computers with all the required software. Each computer has access to the Internet and is connected to the IIBIT network system. IIBIT provides an individual computer terminal for every student in tutorial sessions.
Students Counseling
Lecturers are available to assist students with learning difficulties. If the student's own lecturer is unavailable students are free to approach their faculty director who will organise assistance. Students with personal or legal problems should see student services staff, who will be able to assist or refer the student to the college counselor.
Recreational Facilities
IIBIT is equipped with the areas like the student lounge and study rooms that are available to all students. The student lounge includes kitchen facilities, Microwave ovens, Refrigerator, Snack vending machines etc and areas for students to socialize and relax outside of study time. The lounge also has a pay phone facility.
Students can refer to the noticeboards in the entrance lobby and in the student lounge for any current social events held by the college and for information about recreational events and facilities in Sydney.
Accommodation/Home stay
If students require accommodation, the institute can arrange home stay or advise on other types of accommodation. If students have any problems with their home stay arrangements they should consult the student services who can direct you to see the accommodation officer.
Students must also let the office know if their address changes during their course. It is important that the institute should be able to contact students or relatives in the case of emergencies.
