Course Description

This qualification is suitable for those working in various medical administration contexts. Individuals may exercise discretion and judgment using appropriate knowledge to provide technical advice and support to a team. This course has been designed with input from practice managers and general practitioners and other healthcare disciplines such as dental, medical specialists and allied health, all with a practice management perspective.

It is clear that today the practise receptionist/Administrator has to be well equipped to meet ever-increasing demands, and that new skills are required to provide effective and efficient running of professional practice.

Course outcomes

This course aims to provide students with the requisite knowledge,This qualification is designed to reflect the role of employees who perform duties such as:

  • Medical Receptionist
  • Medical Records Officer
  • Medical Secretary or Typist

Admission Criteria:

  • Must be minimum of 18 years old
  • Have sound language, literacy and numeracy skills in order to undertake this course (Contact IIBIT for a LLN test).

The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include BSB40515 - Certificate IV in Business Administration with any other RTO.

Delivery Modes

(Workshops + self-directed online learning).

This delivery mode includes approximately 5 x 2-day workshops covering key theoretical concepts and practical elements using small group and individual learning activities. Workshops are delivered at appropriate intervals as agreed. Each workshop is followed by a period in which the student undertakes self-directed learning including work on the completion of learning activities and preparation of assessment tasks.
